General Information of Baantat sub-district

  1. All areas of Baantat sub-district are not irrigated. Rice-growing depends solely on rainfalls.
  2. 4% of farmers in Baantat sub-district grow rice. 2 crops of rice are grown in a year, one in rainy season and another in dry season.
  3. Soils are generally sandy and low in nutrients.
  4. Land topology is uneven.

Experimental Results with Voga in dry season rice

      2. Use E-Tie-Dang rice variety, seed usage: 60 kg/Rai
    • Fertilizing method
      1. First application: use 16-8-8 32 kg/rai with Voga 7.5 kg mixed with fertilizer when rice is 30 days.
      2. Second application: use 16-16-8 32 kg/rai with Voga 7.5 kg mixed with fertilizer when rice is 60 days.
  • Third application: use 46-0-0 40 kg/rai without using Voga

Harvesting

  1. Harvest when rice is 130 days.
  2. Farmer who used Voga gained 1,188 kg of rice per Rai.
  3. Farmers who did not use Voga gained on average 650 kg of rice per Rai

Yield Comparison

  1. Farmer who used Voga
    • Kittisak Molpuk, 303 Moo 8, Baan Sangsa, Baantat sub-district, Pen district, Udontani province gained 1,188 kg per Rai.
  2. Farmer who did not use Voga
    • Noopan Udompen, 18 Moo 8, Baan Sangsa, Baantat sub-district, Pen district, Udontani province gained 650 kg of rice per Rai.
    • Boonma Peutisarn, 126 Moo 8, Baan Sangsa, Baantat sub-district, Pen district, Udontani province gained 437.5 kg of rice per Rai.

Conclusion

  • Voga can increase rice yield in dry season and prevent pest and disease from affecting rice.
  • Rice harvest is prolonged by 2 weeks. (with Voga usage)
